Weatherization Day 2009!

Weatherization Day was October 30. What did you do? Click for resources and information about events across the country and how to plan your own.

In recognition of National Weatherization Day on October 30th, Matt Rogers, Senior Advisor to Energy Secretary Steven Chu for Recovery Act Implementation, recorded this video. In the video, he emphasizes the energy and cost benefits of improved energy efficiency - encouraging all Americans to install energy efficiency measures in their own homes - and he expresses appreciation to the nation's weatherization network for its past accomplishments and its continued commitment to serving low-income citizens. Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the Weatherization Assistance Program will continue to grow and deliver results for American families across the country.

Information Regarding STRIPES and FedConnect Transition

The Department of Energy is implementing the Strategic Integrated Procurement Enterprise System (STRIPES) during fiscal years 2008 and 2009. To do business with DOE, all current and potential acquisition and financial assistance awardees must now register with FedConnect portal.

To learn more, please refer to the attached memo or you may reference the official how to guide for using FedConnect.

Formula Grants Roll Forward

The exemption previously used to roll forward (or deobligate and reobligate the WAP formula grant prior year authorizations) is no longer available. All prior year funds must now be deobligated and approved for reobligation by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) before the funds can be returned to the States.

EERE has been working with the DOE Chief Financial Officer and the Project Management Center to map an approach which will accelerate this process. Current actions to facilitate the process can be found on the attached fact sheet.
